<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The latest Cumulative Updates (CU) for Project and Project Server 2010 and 2007 have been released. Feel free to open a support case if you have any questions around this or need assistance getting these patches deployed.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Feel free to join us in July for a TechNet webcast to go over these patches in greater detail. The information for this event is below:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">TechNet Webcast: Information About Microsoft Project and Project Server Cumulative June Update (Level 200)
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">https://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?culture=en-US&EventID=1032454430&CountryCode=US
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Project and Project Server 2010
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This include a number of fixes, so Microsoft strongly recommends that you test this in a test environment based on your production environment before putting this fix live in production.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There was an issue found with one of the other Office Server products which needed to be addressed before release. The issue has been fixed and the Server Rollup Packages are being rebuilt. We expect the patch to be released the first week of July.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Please note that the issue was not with the Project Server Individual Package so the Project Server CU (KB2598375) can be used for testing and/or rapid deployment for organizations who cannot wait for the Server Rollup Patch to be released.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The article below provides information on how to deploy the Project Server Cumulative Update.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">You can read about the fixes included in the Project and Project Server June CUs from the following articles:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Server Rollup Package(Recommended):
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">ETA: First week of July
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Only required if you do not install the Server Rollup.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of the Project Server 2010 hotfix package (Pjsrvwfe-x-none.msp): June 26, 2012
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Project Client Package:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of the Project 2010 hotfix package (Project-x-none.msp): June 26, 2012
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2598351
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">More information on deploying the Cumulative Update:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The article below provides information on how to deploy the Project Server Cumulative Update.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Updates for Project Server 2010
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/projectserver/gg176680.aspx
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">As Project Server 2010 is now based on SharePoint Server 2010 we strongly recommend that you install the Project Server 2010 Server Rollup Package as there are a large number of individual server packages for SharePoint Server. The Project Server 2010 Server Rollup Package contains all the patches released in this Cumulative Update for SharePoint Foundation Server 2010, SharePoint Server 2010 and Project Server 2010.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">For those accustomed to Project Server 2007 Cumulative Updates, you should note that the MOSS Server Rollup Package does not contain the Project Server patches. As in Project Server 2007, the Server Rollup Packages are much larger but they will greatly simplify your Project Server patch deployment.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Client Installation:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Installation of the client patch is straightforward and is the same as it was in Project 2007. The instructions for installing the client patch are below.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">NOTE: Microsoft strongly recommends testing within a NON-Production environment prior to rollout.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This include a number of fixes, so Microsoft strongly recommends that you test this in a test environment based on your production environment before putting this fix live in production.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The article below provides information on how to deploy the Project Server Cumulative Update.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Deploy cumulative updates (Project Server 2007)
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd239177.aspx
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Server Pack 3 for Project and Project Server 2007 has been released. While not required for the June CU, we strongly recommend that you install it as it contains a number of patches to improve performance and reliability. The following blog goes into more detail about SP3.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Office 2007 and SharePoint 2007 Service Pack 3 Availability
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/2011/10/25/office-2007-and-sharepoint-2007-service-pack-3-availability.aspx
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">SP3 may be optional, however, Service Pack 2 for both WSS and Office Servers 2007 are required for this Cumulative Update. The KB articles below provide information on how to download and install SP2 if you have not already done so.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP2 and of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack SP2
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953338
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 2 and of 2007 Microsoft Office servers Language Pack Service Pack 2
<span style="color: #0066dd; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953334
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Server CU is released in two different versions. The first version is in Individual Packages specific to a particular product like WSS and Project Server. These are smaller downloads but they do not include language packs or patches for other products so patches for those products would have to be downloaded and installed separately.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The second version is the Server Rollup Packages. This is a set of two rollup packages which contains all the fixes for WSS, Project Server and MOSS. These packages should be used when MOSS is part of the deployment and/or you have language packs installed. The Server Rollup Packages are much larger but they will greatly simplify MOSS patch deployment.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Client Installation:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In order to install this hotfix, you will need to have Microsoft Project 2007 SP2 installed on the client.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of Office Project 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and of Office Project Language Pack 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Once we know that SP2 is installed, you will install the hotfix by performing the following steps:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">NOTE: Microsoft strongly recommends testing within a NON-Production environment prior to rollout.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">1. Download the hotfix from either the KB Article.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">2. Extract the patch package by running the .exe file that you downloaded.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">3. Run the extracted .exe file to apply the patch to your Project Professional/Standard SP1 client.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: x-small;">if you create a new deliverable from Project site (site teamplate is customized..) using the grid row option (you can enter the deliverable name, start & finish), No deletion/update of columns in deviverables but other lists are custiomized. Once deliverable is crated a small message shows "Server is processing the changes to this row". (First screenshot) ANother way to create a new deliverable using the "New Item" form. so I created one more using this option. (Second screenshot) Now, I have two deliverables (D1 & D2) . When I open the MS project, I can see only one (D1) which is created via adding record using row option.(see the last screenshot). So Issue seems to be with the New Item form which doesn't sync the data to server. Looks liks a bug to me.
Amit Kharehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06837681622885965913noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874620074699269403.post-70922244866060111072011-09-08T22:02:00.000-07:002011-09-08T22:02:48.372-07:00Project Server 2010 cumulative update package August 30, 2011

<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The article below provides information on how to deploy the Project Server Cumulative Update.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Updates for Project Server 2010
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/projectserver/gg176680.aspx
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">As Project Server 2010 is now based on SharePoint Server 2010 we strongly recommend that you install the Project Server 2010 Server Rollup Package as there are a large number of individual server packages for SharePoint Server. The Project Server 2010 Server Rollup Package contains all the patches released in this Cumulative Update for SharePoint Foundation Server 2010, SharePoint Server 2010 and Project Server 2010.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">For those accustomed to Project Server 2007 Cumulative Updates, you should note that the MOSS Server Rollup Package does not contain the Project Server patches. You will need to make sure that you install the MOSS + Project Server Rollup Package (the link is provided below). As in Project Server 2007, the Server Rollup Packages are much larger but they will greatly simplify your Project Server patch deployment.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Client Installation:
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Installation of the client patch is straightforward and is the same as it was in Project 2007. The instructions for installing the client patch are below.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">NOTE: Microsoft strongly recommends testing within a NON-Production environment prior to rollout.

<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Download the hotfix from the link in the KB Article.

<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Extract the patch package by running the .exe file that you downloaded.

<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Run the extracted .exe file to apply the patch to your Project Professional/Standard client.

<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Service Pack 2 for both WSS and Office Servers 2007 are required for this Cumulative Update. The KB articles below provide information on how to download and install SP2 if you have not already done so.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Description of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP2 and of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack SP2
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Server CU is released in two different versions. The first version is in Individual Packages specific to a particular product like WSS and Project Server. These are smaller downloads but they do not include language packs or patches for other products so patches for those products would have to be downloaded and installed separately.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The second version is the Server Rollup Packages. This is a set of two rollup packages which contains all the fixes for WSS, Project Server and MOSS. These packages should be used when MOSS is part of the deployment and/or you have language packs installed. The Server Rollup Packages are much larger but they will greatly simplify MOSS patch deployment.
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Client Installation:
<span style="color: #073763; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In order to install this hotfix, you will need to have Microsoft Project 2007 SP2 installed on the client.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Hello EPM Users/Techies,

Today I was browsing the <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Project Server forum<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> & found a very easy but interesting question about displaying the task calender information in report which pulls the data from Project Server Reporting database. Since this information is not available in reporting database so thought a workaround & get the information.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1. Tried creating a TAsk level text custom field using formula:

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; border-collapse: separate; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "Segoe UI", Verdana, Arial; text-align: left;">Text custom fields can be multiline up to 4000 bytes, for use in project detail pages (PDPs) and with workflows for demand management in Project Web App. Multiline text custom fields are not usable in Project Professional. so I added a Project level Multiline text field in my PDP & now I wanted to update this field in a given project from my PSI program.

Here is the code for the Console application :
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; border-collapse: separate; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "Segoe UI", Verdana, Arial; text-align: left;">1. You will need to add project web service (ProjectWebSvc) web ref in the solution: http://servername/pwa/_vti_bin/PSI/Project.asmx?wsdl
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; border-collapse: separate; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "Segoe UI", Verdana, Arial; text-align: left;">2. Its very basic code, which has TEXT_VALUE update for a Multiline field
An EPT is a combination of phases, stages, a single workflow, and Project Detail Pages. Each EPT represents a single project type. Normally, project types are aligned with individual departments, for example, marketing projects, IT projects, HR projects, and so forth. Using project types in Project 2010 now helps to categorize projects within the same organization that have a similar project life cycle

The easiest way to know whether the queue is stuck is to look in the Manage Queue page in PWA. If there are several jobs sitting in the “Waiting to be processes” state, then the queue is most likely stuck.

The thing to do first is to find the one job that is in queue position 1 and that is holding up all the other jobs from processing. Follow these steps to help find the stuckedjob:

1) In the “Manage Queue” page in PWA>Server Settings expand the “Job History” and set the “From Date” back to as early as you think the stuck job might be found. A week back would probably be sufficient if this is a recent occurrence.
2) In the “Job Completion Status” remove all jobs statuses and only add back in the following: Getting Queued, Processing
3) Hit the “Refresh” button in the Jobs GridAmit Kharehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06837681622885965913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874620074699269403.post-74876809531227997942007-09-16T01:51:00.000-07:002007-09-16T01:54:10.689-07:00Hi AllHi All,

I am very new to blogs, Hope you will like my bolgs & the technical materials,

Cheers,
AmitAmit Kharehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06837681622885965913noreply@blogger.com0
